I was baptised into the church in 2010 and the journey has been great. Yeah, it’s been super bumpy, and yeah I’ve had to pause a few times, but it has been one that has been filled with love & enlightenment. The message of the Seventh Day Adventist church can be found in Revelation 14:6-12 (the three angels’ message):
6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
8 And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Our church is built on this message, and the primary aim of our church is to spread this message everywhere. From this message, other messages and teachings have been born, such as the Health Message, The Great Controversy, and others. Most of these teachings were delivered to us by Ellen G. White, our prophet. A lot of controversy surrounds her and God’s work through her, but you can find some reliable information about her here and the controversies surrounding her, here.
I guess the most famous thing we’re known for is keeping the seventh day sabbath (from Friday sundown-Saturday sundown), although we’re not the only Christian denomination that do.
The most important thing I have found, is that the Seventh-Day Adventist church found their principles on the Word of God, other denominations have commented & remarked that the SDA church are a Bible-keeping church. Our church has 28 fundamental beliefs which can all be found here. I won’t lie to you, we do have our flaws & our debates, but the truth will always be the truth.
